Per Diem | 7-hour school days.

Assabet Valley Collaborative (AVC) is looking for Per Diem Registered Nurses to join our collaborative team and provide nursing coverage and additional support across our three special education school programs.

  • Work across different programs and with a variety of student needs.

About the Students:
AVC operates three special education programs: REACH, Evolution, and Orchard Street Academy.

Depending on the assignment, you may work with:
  • A small classroom of 3–7 students with significant medical complexity.
  • A program serving approximately 25–60 students with a range of physical and mental health needs.
  • Students across programs as a “float” nurse.

Our students' health needs may include tube feeding and care, seizure management and rescue medications, medication administration, skin integrity, mobility and positioning, personal care, and other specialized medical needs.

What You'll Do:
Depending on the assignment, you may:
  • Administer medications, treatments, and other nursing interventions.
  • Implement student health care plans and medical protocols.
  • Provide seizure management and emergency response.
  • Support tube feeding and other complex health needs.
  • Monitor and respond to illnesses, injuries, and changes in student health.
  • Communicate with families, medical providers, teachers, and other staff.
  • Train and support staff in implementing student health plans and safety procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate nursing documentation and records.
  • Collaborate with AVC's nursing team and multidisciplinary staff.

What We're Looking For:
  • Current Massachusetts RN license; LPN license may suffice with support from our RN team.
  • Successful completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Experience with pediatrics, special education, schools, psychology, or individuals with complex needs is helpful.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing student and program needs.
  • Strong communication and follow-through.
  • Willingness to seek, receive, and provide clear and respectful feedback.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

Schedule & Compensation:
Per Diem | 7-hour school days:
Per diem assignments are based on the needs of AVC's programs and may include coverage for planned or unexpected nurse absences, field trips, special activities, or additional student support.

Schedule and frequency will vary based on program needs and your availability.
$38–$78 per hour, based on degree and years of experience.
